Arenal Volcano National Park

The Arenal volcano is one of the volcanoes with more scenic beauty of Costa Rica. Takes the form of an almost perfect cone, and can be seen from a distance, but not all tourists are lucky enough to see the cone as a whole, as sometimes the clouds come and go in seconds.

Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world: a small eruption every 45 minutes. Sometimes the sound of the eruption may be confused with lightning, depending on the distance from the volcano. Between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries ceased their activity, but it erupted in 1968. Arenal volcano eruptions are frequent but moderate, can be viewed without danger as long as observers are behind the security perimeter. This natural wonder of the Arenal makes one of the most popular destinations, especially at night.

Arenal Volcano National Park covers an area of 120 square kilometers. The volcano has a height of 1650 meters (3281 to 5436 feet).

The visitor center has an auditorium, an exhibition hall, a crafts shop and toilet facilities. Also has marked trails with several points of interest with scenic views. Open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm
